According to a recent survey by Job Outlook, for the third year now there is a positive increase in hiring fresh college graduates for 2006. Business owners plan on hiring more from the class of 2005-06 than they did from the 2004-05 class as well as offering higher compensation and benefits for the new hires.

In the annual survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, nine out of ten companies describe the new job market as good, very good, and excellent. Public accounting and consulting firms narrated the brightest prospect for the future graduates, while engineering and construction firms supported the idea by saying they’ll also be hiring.

There is a growing demand for new graduates in the job market as a result of the also growing products and services they offer and to keep up with the retiring HR staff.

The food and beverage processing companies, merchandisers, and financial services will need more Business Administration/Management degree holders. One-third of business owners plan on hiring associate graduates categorized into three: technology, engineering and business related degrees. Insurance and engineering/surveying companies appear the most in need of 2 year course graduates for they bear a productive kind of technical knowledge which does not require more training. They belong to the hands-on work force who developed a good work ethic which is sadly observed by employers as missing in previous amateur graduates.

During the survey, only 23.5%, (mainly manufacturers) respondents planned on hiring international graduates in 2006.

In fact, New Way of Doing Business in the Future Will Dictate Having No Permanent Employees other than Core Business Builders and Top Decision Makers in an Organization.
Jack Welch joined a conference that was held in Duke Fuquay Business School where he was invited to promote his new book called “Winning”. He told audience about how culture is important in a company. Culture builds integration and integration guarantees better products and services for customers. In GE’s 1994 annual report his statements were no different. “Boundaryless behavior…” he said “…has become the right behavior at GE, and aligned with this behavior is a rewards system that recognizes the adapter or implementer of an idea as much as its originator. Creating this open, sharing climate magnifies the enormous and unique advantage of a multibusiness GE, as our wide diversity of service and industrial businesses exchange an endless stream of new ideas and best practices.”
A little over 10 years, does his story still stick? Yes but only in theory… Many multibusinesses have figured out harshly that they need to understand their core business competency and capitalize on that in order to survive, rather than surrendering their many businesses with one culture like Welch said. Simply because, it was not working! Since that was understood plainly, across the globe, multibusiness managements have been under increasing pressure, as they struggle with decisions about what businesses they should be in and how they should structure and influence these businesses. GE, Siemens, Tyco, 3M, and few others have escaped from this fact as they could answer the crucial question: What is your corporate strategy? But this doesn’t mean that they could answer the upcoming question: What is the value behind having permanent employees?
The question is not only directed to multibusinesses but concerning medium and large organizations too. Why do companies have marketing, operations or sales departments? Is that really their core competency to have lots of employees working for them? Most probably, not! Multibusinesses are more akin to danger of fading away, though, because employee means culture and power to them, and one of their core business value is orchestrating them to work together. With the new wave of doing business through on-demand sourcing, every organization will start demoting the role of conducting non-core side of their business in order to be swifter. Jack Welch mentioned a genius idea in the conference. “Why are we not grading our mature boys (employees)?” Welch asked, explaining that evaluation should not stop after education. In an on-demand sourcing situation, employees will be hired by specialized firms. But they probably need to use a grading system before going ahead and forming a group of employees for an organization. Organizations, in parallel, need to see grades of specialized firms before hiring them. So grading and analytical proof on core-decision making will be key. If there were sufficient proofs supporting top organizations’ decision makers, it would be easier for them to take critical steps and hire right specialized firms for their needs. Rating firms will give organizations the historical success of specialized firms and grade them just like S&P does it for countries. Rating will bring auto control system to both employees and specialized firms.
Through on-demand sourcing, optimizing cash reserves will be easier than ever. Also organizations can be much more agile, business-oriented and focused. The other side of the story, employees, will be more satisfied as the on-demand way of employment will fulfill their incentives more than today in the business environment. Also, how much they earn will depend on their grade, which translates into how trained they are on a specific subject. This will force them to learn more and hone their skills continuously. With all outsourcing craze going on in the world, we don’t have more than 5 years to see this trend shaping our lives so better get prepared for it.

Being the CEO of the outsourcing company (Infotrex Services), I have very good
experience of hiring many programmers by myself & I would like to share some tips
so that you can hire the best programmer.

Developers are easy to find, but people who understand what you’re trying to do and are
fanatically committed to do things better isn’t.

Every few days, I talk to clients who outsourced development work and they are not happy with their programmers or the company they deal with. So when we work with these kind of clients,
I make sure that the communication channel is always live and our developers are super sharp
to understand the requirements & work on it. Our focus isn’t on technology as much as it is on our problem solving attitude. We’re not the biggest, we’re not the cheapest, and we aren’t rocket scientists – we just get things done by pushing ourselves to get the best solution for our clients.

Anyway, long story short here – hiring developers when you outsource the project is a headache.
Here are some tips for you:

1. Define the Job description, skill-set & approximate years of experience of a desired programmer

To accomplish this, you need to have someone expert who can define this for you.
Do not ask to your friends or try to answer by yourself. Get professional help.
You can ask this directly to CEOs of outsource companies(like us!!!). Many of
our clients don’t really ask and we suggest that they ask this to us and get real answer.

2. Ask for a brief resume of the programmer
After finishing this first criteria, next best step is to ask for some relevant experience.
This part is tricky one. Some programmers are smart enough and try to fool you by saying
that they can provide you everything which you want and even show you some fake projects work.
Again, get some professional help to get out of this trap. Remember the old saying – All glitter is not gold.

3. Have Some problem sets for testing
It is better to have a small problem sets available, which you can give it to the programmer.
Ask for the logic to solve the problem and if time permits, ask the programmer to even implement the logic and give you test solution. This is the most difficult part and requires
lots of preparation beforehand.

4. Solve the problem for long-term, not short-term
If you are not a fly by night person or a company, and then go for a long term solution.
It means – for your programming needs, do all 3 activities mentioned here and try
to establish the relationship with a programmer or a company for long term.

5. Hourly rate is an illusion game when you keep bargaining
For example, there are 2 programmers. Programmer A is having 2 years of experience and hourly rate is: 20$ per hour. Programmer B is having 1 year of experience and the rate is: 10$ per hour. If you just look for the hourly rate, then choosing the lower is not always good for you.

Now, for particular project work, programmer A will give you 1 hour estimate and for same work programmer B will give you estimate of 3 hours. Just do the math and you will know that programmer A will be cost effective eventually.

Another case: If you bargain with programmer A and tell him to lower the rate, for example 15$ per hour. Once the programmer agree for it, and for same work of 1 hour, if he estimate 2 hours of work at 15$ rate. Again, same thing. Don’t bargain too much. You always have to pay higher for more experience.

6. Seek some genuine advice & research experience

if you have short listed candidates by following all above points; try to find a real genius.
It’s always good to work with genuine people who really love to add value to their client’s
business by giving some neutral advice & by doing little research. Ask some dumb questions
to programmers and see how they answer you. This point will make a long term impact on your business. So, don’t neglect to check this point.

7. Help Programmers to get best out of them

Programmers are people too. Sometimes they have very limited business knowledge or industry
specific knowledge. Sometimes, what is common-sense to you is not really a common-sense to them. Help the programmer to teach some of the business knowledge of your industry and then see what magic will happen.

However, maybe only a few are aware of how this same process occurs within the human body.
In this case, a person’s body is considered the territory with all its abundant resources. The division that protects the territory, just like the armed forces in different countries, is called the immune system. If the armed forces makes use of a group of people and weaponry for defense, the immune system also has its group of cells and chemicals. As a systemic and carefully organized scheme is needed in fighting in order to win, the protecting system of the human body also makes use of what seems to be a well-planned strategy. Like any other system, however, human immunity also has its weaknesses and imperfections.

The immune system is created to protect the body from dangerous intruders called pathogens. A pathogen, upon invasion of the territory, will seek to utilize its resources in order to survive. The survival of the pathogen within the body results to infections. The type of infection that develops corresponds to the kind of pathogen that has formed it. It can either be a viral infection such as in common colds, a bacterial infection like cholera, a fungal infection such as candidiasis (yeast infection) or a parasitic infection like malaria. Either way, infections cause diseases that are detrimental people and may further lead to their death. However, the human body, just like any other territory, will not just stand by during the invasion. Upon detection of intruders, its immune system will automatically react with the similar instinct to survive.

Coded instructions within cells and other substances enable a strategically implemented process of protection. When pathogens enter the initial barrier of the body, they instantly harm the cells that they come upon. As the cells are injured or infected, it instantly releases eicosanoids and cytokins. These two serve as signals that will cause further reaction within the immune system. Eicosanoids cause the blood vessels to dilate so that the blood will rush in to the area and it also attracts white blood cells to respond. The increased blood flow results to inflammation which is characterized by redness and and swelling. Cytokins on the other hand help in the communication between white blood cells that will eliminate the pathogen, attract more immune cells like killer T-cells and promote healing of the area damaged by pathogens. This mechanism of the immune system, however, as said earlier has its weaknesses and imperfections.

Some pathogens, being more complicated to destroy, sometimes have better chances of survival and to proliferate. When a human’s immune system is not anymore able to fight, external help is already needed such as antibiotics. Several antibiotics, however, are not 100% efficient and leave some bacteria to survive. These remaining bacteria often develop antibiotic resistance, particularly to those that have already been used against them and can cause a more dangerous health problem. Newer antibiotics are then necessary in these situations.
